Who is eligible to create a site?
This service is available for all students, faculty, and staff with a uark.edu email address. Individuals are limited to a single personal blog or website.
What types of sites are eligible for WordPress?
WordPress can be used for personal sites, faculty lab sites, and RSO sites. However, it is not appropriate to use WordPress for academic information that represents the University of Arkansas in an official context. For example, WordPress should not be used to submit classroom assignments or to display graduation requirements for a department. If you are unsure whether your site is appropriate for WordPress, please contact us for more information.
How do I get a website?
To get a website, simply visit our Create A Site page.
Can I use WordPress for commercial purposes?
The University of Arkansas currently does not allow WordPress to be used for commercial purposes. If you are asking users to register and pay for an event, your site will have to link to an external service.
Can I use any theme I want?
We provide all sites with the Divi theme, by Elegant Themes. This theme is highly customizable and incredibly easy to use. While there are other themes available, we urge you to try the Divi theme first.
Can I add custom CSS?
The Divi theme offers many locations to input custom CSS to personalize your site.
Can you manage my site for me?
We are happy to create your website for you. Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to manage your site. We also cannot provide content for your website. We do, however, offer training on how to manage your website and tips for how to add great content.
Who supports these sites?
The WordPress team provides dedicated support to camps WordPress sites. The WordPress team is here to help faculty, staff, and students build creative and functional sites to meet their unique needs. We work with departments campus wide in order to support your site building needs. Located in the Administrative Services Building, we are a subgroup of the Application Development Team within the Campus Information Technology Services Department.
